Number of People Helped By CFA in 2011

THE CENTER FOR FOOD ACTION DISTRIBUTED 61,106 EMERGENCY FOOD PACKAGES IN 2011

  • An emergency food package consists of seven days worth of food; the amount of food a household receives is based on family size. On average, an emergency food package consists of 10 bags of groceries.
  • CFA provided Thanksgiving food packages to 4,659 households – 13,111 people.
  • CFA clients can come for food packages up to 12 times a year.
  • CFA helped 1,422 households with other basic needs: Rent - 277 Households, Utility & Heating Bills - 868 Households, Miscellaneous Assistance - 29

*It is important to note that the number of families served depends upon the availability of funding, and the amount of the monthly bills.  Monthly rents and utility costs keep increasing each year.  Government funding continues to be reduced.
