Hunger Facts

Limited household income and food insecurity are associated with low intakes of fruits and vegetables, which lowers intake of vitamins, minerals, trace elements and fiber. Children in poor families also consume fewer dairy products so they are less likely to meet the RDA for calcium. These reductions in nutrient intakes increase the risk for various chronic diseases.
