The JCC on the Palisades Teen Philanthropy Institute awarded the CFA Weekend Snack Pack Program funding to distribute 555 snack packs to local kids at risk of weekend hunger. Giving Locally = Helping Locally!
On behalf of the Bergen County Freeholders, Freeholder John D. Mitchell presented $5,000 to CFA "in support of their tireless efforts to feed the hungry". (l-R) Barbara Grohs, CFA Board member, Freeholder John D. Mitchell and Jennifer Johnson-Rothman, CFA Director of Communications.
Bergen Highlands/Ramsey Rotary Club along with the Saddle River Valley Task force and Inserra Supermarket, Inc. donated $9000 earlier this year. CFA is grateful for the ongoing support of these generous organizations and businesses.
Chris Sobel (left), as part of his Eagle Scout Project, collected over 12,750 lbs of food that will help provide emergency food to over 200 local resident at risk of hunger. Chris also collected $1,700. Fellow Scouts from Troop #142 and family and friends joined in to make his effort a success.
The Knights of Pythias Benjamin Cardoza Lodge answered CFA's call for help with a $1,000 donation earlier this month. This elevated their 2012 CFA donation amount to $4,000. The generosity of the Knights of Pythias allows CFA to continue providing emergency food and homelessness prevention assistance to local families and individuals who are struggling. We are grateful.
Girl Scout Troop 1427 organized a month long food drive in February as part of their Bronze Award. They recently dropped off approximately 3.5 tons…TONS of collected food and $3,124 worth of supermarket gift cards and cash to CFA Mahwah. “CFA is extremely grateful for the hard work Troop 1427 dedicated to organizing and facilitating this incredible food drive,” according to Jim James, CFA Mahwah site manager.
At a recent Board of Directors' meeting, The National Council of Jewish Women, Bergen County Section collected nearly $1,000 to help CFA provide emergency relief to local families and individuals.NCJW provides funding and volunteer support to CFA throughout the year. CFA is exremely grateful for the ongoing support of the NCJW, Bergen County Section.

Marlene Ceragno organized an "adult briefs" drive at the JCC on the Palisades. (l-r) Marlene Ceragno and Will Eason, CFA Englewood Pantry Manager. Marlene hopes to host an additional adult briefs drive at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center . Incontinence is the second leading cause of institutionalization.

Maxie Anthon (3rd from top left), an eighth grade student at Elisabeth Morrow School in Englewood, decided to take action when she learned that there are kids in her community who experience weekend hunger. She organized her Elisabeth Morrow community and raised over $3,700 for CFA's Weekend Snack Pack Program's Grieco Elementary School distribution.

What can we learn from Jared? How to organize a successful food drive! With the support of his classmates and teachers, Jared organized an extremely successful school food drive for local families in need. Food donations to CFA are down substantially from April of this year. Thank you Jared for making a difference!
The Rotary Club of The Palisades is expanding CFA's Weekend Snack Pack Program to included an elementary school in Edgewater. Last year they provided weekend snack packs to the Anna C. Scott school in Leonia.
County Executive Donovan along with Freeholders Driscoll, Mitchell and DeNicola present CFA’s Jennifer Rothman with a check for $10,000. The money was obtained through a grant.
