The M&T Bank Charitable Foundation recently awarded a $7,500 grant to Center for Food Action (CFA) in support of their Emergency Food Program and Weekend Snack Pack Program.
“CFA is grateful to the M&T Bank Charitable Foundation for their generous support of our work to provide nutritious food to our most vulnerable neighbors in need. This is a wonderful example of neighbors helping neighbors. A special thank you to Lynn J. Smith, M&T Bank Administrative Vice President-Regional Manager, for championing the issue of local hunger.” Jennifer Johnson, Director of Communications and Community Outreach.
CFA’s Weekend Snack Pack Program provides nutritious food on the weekends to local children who receive free or reduced-price school meals during the week but are left without adequate nutrition on the weekends and holiday breaks. Last year CFA distributed 30,000 snack packs.
CFA’s Emergency Food Program provides food to individuals and families who are struggling to put food on their table. An emergency food package consists of seven days of nutritious food. The amount of food a household receives is based on family size. In 2016, CFA distributed 63,615 emergency food packages from 8 CFA locations in northern NJ.
