ENGLEWOOD, NJ, March 14, 2019 — The Center for Food Action announces two honorees who will receive CFA Awards at the upcoming SAVOR.2019 food and wine event in April. CFA Corporate Citizen Honoree, Stryker, was chosen for this honor to show our appreciation of their generosity. Over the years they have championed The Weekend Snack Pack Program, hosted numerous food drives and volunteered time and funds in support of CFA’s mission to prevent hunger and homelessness in northern New Jersey.
The Volunteers from the Community Presbyterian Church in Ringwood, NJ will receive the CFA Hero award in recognition of the support they have provided CFA for more than two decades. Not only has the church donated physical space for the CFA Ringwood Center, Pastor Fraumann and twelve dedicated volunteers have given their time to ensure families in Passaic County have groceries and other housing services when in need.
“We are so grateful for the support we’ve received from Stryker and the Volunteers from the Community Presbyterian Church in Ringwood,” said CFA Executive Director, Patricia Espy. “The need in Bergen and Passaic counties continues to increase and partners who help support our efforts, not only with funds but with their time and energy, like our CFA Honorees, make the mission possible. Together in 2018 we were able to help just under twelve thousand households with more than sixty-four thousand emergency and holiday food packages.”
The honorees will be celebrated during CFA’s annual fundraiser, SAVOR.2019, in April. The event showcases 30 restaurants and breweries from northern New Jersey. The evening, sponsored by Oritani Bank and Stryker, boasts a loyal following of northern New Jersey ‘foodies’. Over 300 guests are expected to attend.
