February 26, 2020 Englewood, New Jersey— The Maxfield Ostfeld Family will be awarded the Center for Food Action Visionary Award in recognition of their ongoing work to combat childhood hunger in New Jersey.
Center for Food Action (CFA) launched the Weekend Snack Pack Program a decade ago to provide healthy snacks for students who receive free or reduced-price lunches. CFA’s Weekend Snack Pack Initiative is designed to help children who are often left without adequate nutrition on the weekends and holiday breaks. Jen Maxfield Ostfeld is a longtime supporter of the Weekend Snack Pack program and the 9.11 event Chair. Her efforts have been instrumental in growing the program, which today provides 35,000 snack packs annually, distributed to more than 21 area schools and youth organizations.
“The Maxfield Ostfeld Family have given so generously of their time over the years to help ensure that area children do not go hungry when school is not in session,” said the organization’s Executive Director, Patricia Espy. “Jen Maxfield, who once served on our board, has been a powerful force to help grow our 9/11 events.”
“Volunteering for the Center for Food Action is a wonderful way for our family to help our neighbors in need. Trevor, Vivian, and Evelyn grew up packing Weekend Snack Packs to help children in Bergen County and we are thrilled that so many other adults and children have volunteered over the years,” Jen Maxfield Ostfeld stated. “We are grateful to CFA for giving us the opportunity to serve.”
CFA will present the Maxfield Ostfeld Family with the award at the organization’s annual fundraiser, SAVOR.2020, on April 20, 2020.
