Patricia Espy, Center for Food Action’s Executive Director, Announces Retirement 

Patricia Espy, CFA’s executive director for the past thirty-five years will be retiring in March 2023. Espy, says, “It has been a privilege to contribute to the organization’s growth and success and I am thankful for all who have shared in the important work being done day in and day out by Center for Food Action. CFA has dedicated, talented and hardworking employees, committed and energetic volunteers, a strong and active board of directors and donors willing to invest in making life better for all members of our community.”
Espy’s first undertaking was conducting a study to determine the unmet needs of residents in northern New Jersey. In the years since she has worked to build community support and the infrastructure needed to reach the most vulnerable members of our community. She says, “Together, we were able to add housing, heating, and utility assistance, open new sites, add programs, successfully complete several capital campaigns, and help build a more food secure New Jersey. Through recessions, floods, September 11, a pandemic, and the struggle of those earning too little and those unable to work, our community has stood together in its support of this important work. I am proud of CFA’s accomplishments and forever grateful to the many people who have made this work possible.”
Espy leaves a strong foundation upon which the board, staff, volunteers, and incoming executive director who will continue to be a valuable resource for those in need and a strong voice and champion in making all New Jerseyans food secure.
Espy says, “It has been an honor to lead Center for Food Action for thirty-five years. I leave this incredible organization looking forward to all it will accomplish in making our community and state a better place.”
